Ipswich Town have signed James Norwood on a three-year deal.
New Ipswich Towns striker James Norwood has told the club’s supporters via Twitter how he is honoured to join the Suffolk club and he will do his all to help the Tractor Boys in their immediate quest for promotion.
Ipswich signed Norwood from Tranmere Rovers on a three-year deal, with the striker telling the club’s official website how he opted to move to Portman Road over three or four Championship offers.
Norwood was the EFL’s leading scorer last season with 32 goals, helping Tranmere to promotion to League One after they defeated Newport County in the League Two playoff final at Wembley.
The 28-year-old seems like a good fit for Ipswich, and he has immediate plans to help the club back up to the Championship following their relegation to League One this past season.
Norwood has been likened to former Norwich City hero Grant Holt. He is strong on the ball, decent at bringing others into play and importantly a reliable finisher in-front of goal.
Ipswich struggled for goals last season, netting just 36 times in 46 league games. Paul Lambert’s men will need to be much more clinical next season if they wish to make an immediate return to the Championship.
Many may consider it a gamble on Ipswich’s part considering Norwood is now 28, yet he has been brought in specifically to help the club in their quest for promotion and in the short-term he appears a decent signing.
