Rangers face Hearts at Ibrox Sunday, off the back of their disappointing Scottish Cup semi-final defeat.

Rangers manager Graeme Murty looks on from the touch line during the Scottish Cup Semi Final match between Rangers and Celtic at Hampden Park on April 15, 2018 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Rangers caretaker boss Graeme Murty says he expects his side to play in an aggressive, high-tempo manner against Hearts as they look to bounce back from their semi-final defeat, Sky Sports report.

Rangers come in to the clash with Hearts coming off the back of their disappointing 4-0 defeat to Old Firm rivals in the semi-final of the Scottish Cup.

In the aftermath of Rangers’ cup defeat, duo Kenny Miller and Lee Wallace have been suspended over a dressing room incident, while Murty himself has come in for plenty of criticism from pundits and supporters alike.

It provides Hearts with an excellent opportunity to bag their first win at Ibrox since 2014, yet Murty is expecting a positive Rangers response as he sets his sights on a strong end to the Scottish Premiership campaign.

“I expect us to be high-tempo, aggressive and put on a better performance than we did last week. We have got to start quick, we need to start sharp and lay out our intentions, Murty told Sky Sports.

“We need to ensure the disappointment of what happened at Hampden doesn’t derail our last five games of the season. That’s our challenge for us collectively, not just me.”

Rangers were anything but high-tempo and aggressive in their defeat to Celtic, as they allowed the Hoops to control possession and utilize the space given to them in wide areas.

Murty needs to see a strong reaction from his players, what with Hibernian’s victory over Celtic on Saturday meaning securing second place has become that little bit more difficult.

The Ibrox club will be counting on their supporters to help create an intimidating atmosphere, and they owe them a strong performance following the poor effort at Hampden Park.
