Millwall were looking to sign Ipswich Town’s Bartosz Bialkowski.
Millwall manager Neil Harris has explained that a complication with Bartosz Bialkowski’s medical means a deal for the Ipswich Town goalkeeper is currently off, South London Press report.
“We agreed a substantial fee with Ipswich for Bart. Bart was in my office – paperwork was signed and agreed, terms were agreed with the player. He is fantastic character, a real nice lad,” Harris explained.
“Everything was okay with Ipswich and there was a complication with the medical, which has led to complications with the deal. As we stand at the moment, the deal is off.”
The South London Press claim a £1 million fee had been agreed between the two clubs.
Millwall are on the lookout for a new goalkeeper after losing last season’s number one David Martin to West Ham United, while Jordan Archer was released, and Ben Amos returned to Bolton Wanderers after his loan spell.
Bialkowski, 31, had seemingly been singled out as Millwall’s first choice, and Ipswich are resigned to selling him having already brought in a replacement in Tomas Holy from Gillingham.
The Tractor Boys number one has spoken of his desire to play in a higher league, but a medical hiccup has momentarily prevented his move to Millwall after agreeing terms with the Lions.
Bialkowski was fit enough to feature in 28 Championship games last season, therefore the prevention appears to be somewhat surprising and leaves Millwall with an interesting decision to make in the coming days.
