Millwall had Norwich City’s Ben Marshall on loan last season.
Millwall manager Neil Harris has told reporters for the South London Press that his side won’t be attempting to sign Norwich City’s Ben Marshall this summer following the player’s loan spell at The Den last term.
“I’m happy to talk about Ben because he has played for us twice. He is not a player we’re looking to bring back this summer,” Harris explained.
“I know social media has run amok with rumours. With some of the players linked there might be a natural link or it be players who have spent time with us previously and people put two and two together.”
According to the Eastern Daily Press, Marshall was a reported Millwall target last summer after spending the 2017/18 campaign on loan at The Den. The Canaries, however, managed to pip the Lions to his signature.
Marshall made only a handful of appearances for Norwich last season, quickly falling out of favour as both Max Aarons and Emiliano Buendia covered the right flank at Carrow Road.
The 28-year-old subsequently returned to Millwall on loan in January. He made 16 appearances, scoring once as Millwall managed to preserve their Championship status by finishing one place above the drop zone.
Marshall has since been left out of Norwich’s Premier League squad for the season. Perhaps many at The Den expected Harris to bring him back for a third time, but that no longer seems the case.
The former Blackburn Rovers man still has three years left on his Norwich contract, but after failing to receive a squad number for the season, he looks likely to leave the club.
