Former player and current pundit Michael Owen believes Liverpool fully deserved the three points following their 2-1 win over rivals Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, writing on social media site Twitter.

The Reds continuted their good start to the season by heading to Stamford Bridge and ending Chelsea boss Antonio Conte’s unbeaten start to the season in a pulsating Friday night encounter.

Liverpool went ahead when Dejan Lovren profited from some woeful defending at a free-kick, before midfielder Jordan Henderson scored an early goal of the season contender with a fabulous 30-yard effort.

Diego Costa momentarily offered Chelsea life as he pulled a goal back in the second half, yet if anything it was Liverpool who looked the more likely to score again as they pressed the hosts brilliantly.

Writing on social media site Twitter, Michael Owen felt the Reds were the better side while another former Red Roy Evans couldn’t speak highly enough of Liverpool’s pressing and movement in the final third.

Victory in what was Liverpool’s fourth away game of the season sees the Reds move in to the top four of the Premier League table.

Despite the blip at Burnley, Klopp’s men have been brilliant this season and the performances against the likes of Arsenal, Leicester City and Chelsea so far suggest they are in for a good season.

As for Chelsea they often looked static and lacking in creativity, but it’s still early days for Conte and many feel the Blues should have enough to finish in the top four this season.
