Marco Asensio has been linked with the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur.
Real Madrid winger Marco Asensio says he is content with his current role at the Madrid giants when asked to clarify his future following his side’s entertaining 5-3 win over Real Betis, AS report.
The talented youngster has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League, with Arsenal (The Sun), Liverpool (the Express) and Tottenham Hotspur (Mundo Deportivo) all said to be keen.
A recent report in Mundo Deportivo even went as far as saying Real Madrid rejected a bid in the region of £133 million for the player in January, while owner Florentino Perez wants as much as £620 million.
It makes any potential switch to the likes of Liverpool or Arsenal very unlikely, and the player himself admitted he sees his future in the Spanish capital despite a lack of first-team starts.
“My season is going well. In the end, when you do not participate as much, you can’t show your thing. Ultimately, I try to take advantage of the minutes [on the pitch], and now things are getting better,” Asensio told AS.
“I’m happy for today’s game, and for how things are going, and I hope to continue with this good dynamic of the team.”
Asensio once again proved his worth in Madrid colours over the weekend, netting twice as Zinedine Zidane’s men overcame a spirited Real Betis side, winning 5-3 in what can only be described as a La Liga classic.
The 22-year-old has provided some huge contributions this season, no more so than his late introduction against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League where Madrid then scored twice to run out 3-1 winners.
It’s no surprise to see the Premier League’s leading clubs take a strong interest in him, but all the evidence points to Asensio remaining at the Santiago Bernabeu beyond the summer and establishing himself in the first-team.
