Celtic’s squad has changed significantly over the past few years.

Former player Murdo MacLeod claims Celtic’s success in the transfer market over the past few seasons has eclipsed any other club in Britain, including the Premier League’s top sides, the Herald Scotland report.
The Hoops have made several changes to their playing squad since the days under Neil Lennon, with current manager Brendan Rodgers stamping his authority on the club with several new additions.
The former Liverpool manager has brought in a total of 17 players during his time with Celtic, while over 30 players have departed whether being sold or released at the end of their contract.
Celtic have adopted a philosophy of bringing in younger players with plenty of potential, and it’s one which has seen them reap the rewards financially when clubs south of the border come knocking.

Speaking to reporters, MacLeod believes his former club’s transfer dealings topple any other club in Britain.
“I don’t think there is a club in Britain who have managed the transfer market better than Celtic over the last four or five years,” the former Celtic midfielder explained.
“They have picked up players for next to nothing and then sold them for big money. Yes, it isn’t for as much as some English clubs who get £50m for their players, but they have had big success.”
Both Virgil van Dijk and Victor Wanyama have moved on for big money in recent seasons, and of Celtic’s current squad, there could be a few more in the future to command huge fees.

The likes of Moussa Dembele, Tom Rogic, Kristoffer Ajer and academy product Kieran Tierney have the potential to make moves to Premier League sides in the future, and the Scottish Premiership champions certainly wouldn’t sell them cheaply.
While the Hoops supporters may feel a sense of frustration at losing their better players, on the flip side there should be a big sense of pride watching those players go on to achieve greater success on bigger stages in their careers.
But have Celtic been Britain’s most effective club in the market in recent times? Considering their budget, arguably so, though both Tottenham Hotspur and Bournemouth also deserve plenty of recognition.
