Luka Modric left Tottenham Hotspur for Real Madrid back in 2012.

Real Madrid’s Luka Modric says he regrets never winning a trophy at Tottenham Hotspur despite playing in a strong team as he looks back on his spell in North London, ESPN reports.
Spurs have made great strides under boss Mauricio Pochettino, yet for all their endeavour and current status among the so-called ‘Premier League’s big six’, they still haven’t won a trophy for almost a decade.
It was the same for Modric during his time at the club, where under the guidance of then-boss Harry Redknapp, a team consisting of the likes of Gareth Bale, Kyle Walker, the popular Rafael van der Vaart, Jermaine Defoe and Ledley King came close but could never quite get over the line.

Speaking of his time at White Hart Lane, Modric admits he had a fantastic relationship with everyone at the club but has regrets at the way he left and how he never managed to help Spurs win any silverware.
“My one regret is that I didn’t win a trophy with Tottenham, despite us being a strong team who played good, attractive football,” Modric told ESPN.
“I’m sorry for the way I left. I wish we had parted in a nicer way. I hope fans understand that I followed my dreams.”

Despite failing to win any silverware at Spurs, Modric’s trophy cabinet at home is much fuller these days following a glut of honours won at the Santiago Bernabeu.
The Croatian international has helped Madrid win three Champions League titles in four seasons, while he has also lifted La Liga, the Copa Del Rey, the Spanish Super Cup and the FIFA Club World Cup three times.
The 32-year-old will no doubt go down as one of the greatest players to have played for Spurs since the Premier League reform, and you would be hard-pressed to find a Tottenham fan who does not hold him in the highest regard.
