According to a report in the Daily Mail (live transfer thread, 16:48, June 19), Liverpool midfielder Emre Can is nearing an Anfield exit as he is expected to undergo a medical at Juventus at the end of the week.
The Germany international midfielder’s contract at Anfield is to expire this summer, and after months of speculation over his future, it seems he is finally set to leave the Premier League club.
Can will be a big loss to the Reds after establishing himself as a regular under Jurgen Klopp, but the club have been swift to sign a potential replacement after agreeing to sign Monaco’s Fabinho.
The former Bayern Munich man joined the Reds from Bayer Leverkusen in 2014, and he has since gone on to make over 100 Premier League appearances for the club in four full seasons.
Can is a popular figure among the Liverpool supporters and there is no denying his commitment when playing for the club, but his future was always in doubt due to his delicate contract situation.
After failing to agree a new deal with the 20-capped German ace, he was eligible to start negotiations with potential suitors as early as January and Juventus have long been linked.
