Former player and current Match of the Day pundit Gary Lineker has taken to social networking site Twitter in order to praise Middlesbrough on their superb start to the Premier League season.

The Teesside club earned promotion back to the top-flight last season and so far this summer their signings suggest they have no intentions of making an immediate return to the Championship.

Aitor Karanka’s side have opened the cheque book and brought in numerous new players including Marten De Roon, Alvaro Negredo, Gaston Ramirez, Victor Valdes and Antonio Barragan among others.

It was perhaps seen as a bit of gamble to some, but so far Boro have looked like a solid Premier League side with four points from their opening two games and Lineker has taken the time to praise coach Karanka.

Boro kicked off their campaign with a solid 1-1 draw at home to Stoke City, yet it was their latest 2-1 win over Sunderland at the Stadium of Light which really impressed pundits and observers alike.

Christian Stuani netted a double for the visitors though it was the team’s structure and shape out of possession which really impressed as Sunderland struggled to make any inroads.

Boro know how to grind out wins and with a bit of luck along the way, there is no reason why they can’t exceed expectations this season and compete for a place in the top half.
