Bolton Wanderers reportedly beat Ipswich Town to the signing of Craig Noone.

According to a report by the Burnden Aces, Bolton Wanderers winger Craig Noone looks set to end his miserable stay at the Lancashire club and move to the A-League with Australian club Melbourne City.
Noone joined Bolton on a two-year deal in 2017. The Trotters reportedly beat Ipswich to his signature, with the Tractor Boys at the time eyeing him up in a £500,000 deal according to the Mirror.
Many felt Bolton pulled off quite a coup at the time. Noone was 29 in 2017, and he had just come off the back of a solid campaign at Cardiff City where he featured in 34 Championship games.
Noone had previous Premier League experience with the Bluebirds, making 14 appearances in the 2013-14 campaign having been a near mainstay in the club’s promotion the previous year.
Ipswich, who were at the time managed by Mick McCarthy, may have felt aggrieved to miss out on the winger yet with hindsight it now seems like a real let-off as Noone’s spell at Bolton has been disastrous.
The 31-year-old made just six league starts in his debut campaign at Bolton as he struggled with injuries. This past term he featured more regularly with 25 starts, but the Trotters have had a season to forget both on and off the field.

With the club in financial trouble, those that were out of contract this summer, including the promising Josh Vela, have been left with little choice but to move on and Noone falls into that category.
It is safe to say that Bolton fans would have expected more from the former Cardiff man. He managed just two league goals and one assist at the Lancashire club, and now his reported move to Australia is an indication he is happy to play out his final years of his career in the sun at a much lower standard of football.
