Leicester City have been linked with a move for Crystal Palace winger Andros Townsend.

According to a report in the Guardian, Leicester City have emerged as contenders to sign Crystal Palace winger Andros Townsend this summer.
The newspaper reports that although Newcastle United are said to be keen on bringing the player back to St. James’ Park in a deal worth £20 million, Leicester have joined the Magpies and hold a strong interest in the winger.
Leicester are likely to sell Riyad Mahrez this summer with the Algeria international heavily linked with Manchester City, and the Foxes may see Townsend as a less expensive but solid replacement.

Not all Leicester City fans, however, don’t seem particularly keen on signing the former Tottenham Hotspur man, with many happy for Newcastle to take him back instead.
Replacing Mahrez is going to be a tough ask for Leicester, and supporters are probably more willing to see the club take a gamble on an import from abroad rather than bringing in a domestic player who they know can’t operate at the same level as the Algerian.
Townsend, 26, nevertheless enjoyed one of his best seasons of his career to date last term, helping Crystal Palace recover from an incredibly poor start to the Premier League campaign to finish comfortably in mid-table.

The England international scored twice and grabbed a further seven assists in over 30 Premier League starts and has three years remaining on his current Crystal Palace deal.
Leicester will be keen to strengthen their squad and challenge for a European spot next season, though losing Mahrez leaves a big void to fill and finding a suitable replacement will be the club’s biggest challenge this summer.
