Bolton Wanderers were linked with Sheffield United’s Ched Evans.

Charlton Athletic manager Lee Bowyer has explained how his side missed out on a deadline day deal following the collapse of Bolton Wanderers’ move for Sheffield United’s Ched Evans, Bolton News report.
“We thought he (Evans) was gone to be honest. Because Ched did not go to the club he was meant to go it meant we could not bring in this other player,” Bowyer explained.
Evans is currently on loan at Fleetwood Town from Bolton’s Championship rivals Sheffield United.
Bolton News now report how Fleetwood did not get the mandatory 24-hour notice from the Blades to cancel Evans’ loan deal, therefore they opted against signing his release.

Bolton, the Championship’s lowest scorers, were evidently desperate to bring in a goal scorer in January and missing out on Evans could prove to be a big blow to their potential survival hopes.
Evans, 30, has netted 12 league goals in 24 starts for Fleetwood this term with his latest goal ironically being the winner against Charlton as Lee Bowyer’s side succumbed to a 1-0 defeat.
