Bayern Munich are said to be scouting Everton’s Jordan Pickford.

According to a report in The Sun, German champions Bayern Munich are said to be scouting Everton’s number one Jordan Pickford as they look at a long-term replacement for Manuel Neuer.

German World Cup winner Neuer has missed the entire season with injury and only made his comeback this weekend, and with question marks over his future Bayern are looking at Pickford as an option.

The England international has only been at the Toffees for a year following his move from Sunderland last summer, and he was one of only a few players who really stood out in an otherwise poor Everton campaign.

Bayern would be a huge step up for the goalkeeper and surely a club who’d be too hard to turn down, therefore Everton should be looking at potential contingency plans and one of those is the highly-rated Andriy Lunin.

A recent report in The Mirror claimed Everton and Liverpool were both keen on signing the 19-year-old shot-stopper, but the latest Pickford news should prompt the Toffees to pull out the stops now to get him.

Lunin, standing at 6ft 3inch and plying his trade with Ukraine side Zorya Luhansk, is widely regarded as one of the best young goalkeepers in Europe and a number of teams are said to be tracking him.

“Various clubs in Italy, Austria and England have asked about Lunin. I don’t know whether Napoli or Roma are interested. I only learned about this through the media – but I can’t say they won’t be in touch soon,” his agent Irakli Khvedeliani told The Sun in April.

The Ukraine international is said to be rated at £6 million, an absolute bargain in today’s market if the coveted youngster manages to reach his undoubted potential.

Signing him now would give Everton a promising back-up in the short-term and in the long run a replacement for Pickford should the current Toffees number one leave in the next few years.
