Arsenal’s Alexandre Lacazette has had an interesting start to life at the Emirates.
Former Arsenal defender Martin Keown has praised striker Alexandre Lacazette’s finishing ability, but highlighted his vulnerability in his latest Daily Mail column.
The France international striker arrived at Arsenal in the summer for a reported club record £52 million fee. Lacazette was an impressive goal scorer during his spell in France, scoring more than 20 goals in each of his four seasons prior to moving to the Emirates over the summer.
Writing in his column for the Daily Mail, former Arsenal defender Martin Keown highlighted Lacazette’s finishing ability and compared him to club legend Ian Wright. Keown feels, however, that there’s one key difference between the two.
“His finishing is the closest I have seen to Ian Wright but his personality is completely different. Ian was unpredictable but a fighter, whereas Lacazette looks wounded every time he is brought off,” Keown wrote.
Lacazette has found the net nine times for the Gunners in the Premier League this season, yet the 26-year-old does sometimes cut a frustrated figure up front, and often finds himself substituted (Lacazette has only completed the 90 minutes in five of his last ten starts in all competitions). Keown adds that against two strong central defenders, Lacazette is prone to being roughed up.

The arrival of new striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang at Arsenal may give Lacazette the support he needs and a bit more freedom, although it is by no means certain that manager Arsene Wenger will opt to start the two together.
