Ipswich Town have appointed former Norwich City boss Paul Lambert as their new manager, on a 3-year contract.

Paul Lambert talks to the media as he is officially unveiled as Stoke City new manager at Britannia Stadium on January 16, 2018 in Stoke on Trent, England.

Some Norwich City supporters have taken to Twitter to comment on their former manager Paul Lambert taking over the managerial hotseat at bitter rivals Ipswich Town.

Ipswich have been quick to hire Lambert as their new manager following the dismissal of Paul Hurst, who only took charge of the club in the summer.

It isn’t in Ipswich’s nature to sack managers so early in their tenure, but the club clearly felt that they had made a mistake appointing Hurst, previously at Shrewsbury Town, as, after 15 matches, the Tractor Boys were propping up the Championship table.

Lambert has a big job on his hands if he is to help Ipswich stay up this season, and some rival Norwich fans are clearly hoping he fails to succeed.

Here are some Norwich fans expressing their views on Twitter:

Lambert was most recently in charge of Stoke City as the Potters were relegated from the Premier League, but between 2009 – 2012 the former Scotland international had a very successful spell at Carrow Road.

Lambert led the Canaries to the League one title in 2010, and he earned back-to-back promotions by guiding Norwich to the Premier League the following season.

Lambert kept Norwich up on their return to the top-flight, before departing the club to join Aston Villa where he spent two-and-a-half seasons – being dismissed midway through the 2014/15 campaign after a poor run of form.

Ipswich will be hoping Lambert can repeat his success at their bitter rivals, but first the club must stay in the Championship.
