Arsenal have a number of tireless players in their squad.

Arsenal's Alex Iwobi

Arsenal ace Alex Iwobi has nominated midfielder Mohamed Elneny as the club’s hardest working player in training when asked by FourFourTwo magazine, as later reported by The Sun.

Many associate Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez as the club’s hardest working player, and that comes as little surprise considering how the Chillean goes about his business on match days.

Sanchez runs defenders into the ground, applies plenty of pressure off the ball and is a real crowd favourite at the Emirates Stadium, yet Iwobi feels fellow teammate Elneny is on another level altogether.

“He’s (Elneny) just everywhere. He runs so much in training. And it shows in the match that he covers a lot of distance,” Iwobi told FourFourTwo, quoted by The Sun.

Elneny arrived at Arsenal last January, joining the North London club from Swiss champions Basel.

Not many had heard of the the Egypt international prior to moving to the Emirates, yet he soon established himself as a key player for the Gunners with a number of outstanding performances.

He broke his goal-scoring duck in the Champions League defeat at Barcelona where he was Arsenal’s best player on the night, and since then he proved a threat arriving from deep positions.

The Gunners have plenty of options in central midfield with Santi Cazorla, Francis Coquelin and Granit Xhaka also vying for first-team positions, but Elneny arguably offers something different.

The former Basel man plays more of a box-to-box role and his abundance of energy offer protection out of possession, and allows Wenger’s men to attack with numbers when looking to counter with speed.
