Norwich City beat Millwall 4-3 in a pulsating Championship clash.
Norwich City midfielder Moritz Leitner has told reporters how the last-minute winner over Millwall on Saturday gave the team goosebumps as they came from behind to claim all three points, Eastern Daily Press report.
“The finish was really unbelievable. It gave us goosebumps. These games are unbelievable. You can speak about these games for the next 10 years and I’m really happy and proud I was a small part of it and can really enjoy it now,” the German midfielder explained.
Norwich came out on top of what was an extraordinary game at Carrow Road which saw five goals scored in the last 15 minutes of play as both teams lead at various stages of the encounter.
Millwall took the lead in the opening period, but Norwich turned the game on its head as Teemu Pukki rounded off a decent move to equalise before Leitner struck from 25-yards to give the hosts the lead.
With results going their way elsewhere, the home supporters were still singing ‘We are top of the league’ when the visitors immediately scored their second of the game a matter of seconds after the restart.
Neil Harris’s side then took the lead, only for Norwich to equalise again in the second minute of injury time. As the seconds ticked away, many thought the honours were to be shared yet Pukki had different ideas. Countering from a Millwall corner in the sixth minute of time added on, the Canaries raced up the other end of the field and their Finland international striker struck from close range to spark what can only be described as wild scenes.
It was a memorable win for Daniel Farke’s side, and one which lifts the Norfolk side to the top of the Championship after recording an incredible nine victories in their last 11 games.
Leitner was one of the hosts’ better players on the day, posting four key passes and a 88.1% pass-accuracy rate (Whoscored).
