Leeds United’s Pontus Jansson has raised eyebrows with a recent Tweet.

Leeds United defender Pontus Jansson took to Twitter after the 2-1 victory over Queens Park Rangers Saturday to single out midfielder Pablo Hernandez for special praise.

The Sweden international claimed the Whites play-maker was the best player he has ever played with, after Hernandez once again played a key role in Leeds’ come-from-behind victory.

But Jansson’s comments, while pleasing for both Hernandez and the Leeds supporters, no doubt raises some eyebrows and the following three players in particular may have something to say about that.

During his time at Torino, Jansson played alongside 35-capped Italy international Ciro Immobile, and the striker was already deemed a superstar for the Serie A club after scoring 22 goals in 33 Serie A games in 2013-14.

Immobile also had spells at Borussia Dortmund and Sevilla, and he has since gone on to record his best ever goal scoring campaign last season at Lazio, where he netted an incredible 29 league goals in 33 matches.

Davide Zappacosta of Chelsea FC during the Carabao Cup Fourth Round match between Chelsea and Derby County at Stamford Bridge on October 31, 2018 in London, England.

The marauding fullback was another of Jansson’s teammates at Torino, establishing himself as one of the best in Italy which later prompted then Chelsea coach Antonio Conte to bring him to Stamford Bridge.

The Daily Mail reported the fee to be in the region of £25 million, and he went to play 35 games in all competitions for the Blues last season, helping the side with the FA Cup.

As Sweden faced Italy in the World Cup playoff in 2017, Jansson spoke to Swedish news outlet Aftonbladet of his time in Italy and how he was looking forward to meeting former teammates Immobile and Zappacosta who he had played with at Torino.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic

The biggest name which Jansson has overlooked, however, is non-other than his fellow Sweden international teammate Zlatan Ibrahimovic – a player who is widely regarded as a modern great.

Ibrahimovic has scored over 400 career goals at the top level, he has won 11 top-flight titles in four different countries and he has ranked in the top ten of the Ballon d’Or voting on six separate occasions.
