Ipswich Town goalkeeper Bartosz Bialkowski says former manager Paul Hurst disrespected him by not explaining his reason for dropping him for the derby clash with Norwich City in September, East Anglian Daily Times report.

“If he [Paul Hurst] wanted to drop me then that’s fine for me but at least have the bravery to tell me about it. But he never spoke to me and I thought that was a bit disrespectful,” Bialkowski explained.

“I just thought, surely, that he would pull me aside and tell me the decision behind. I was never told anything or spoke to the old gaffer before or after and I was disappointed, obviously. What I had to do was keep training hard and do everything to be ready again.”

After a sluggish start to the season, Ipswich faced east Anglian rivals Norwich City at Portman Road in early September and goalkeeper Bialkowski was a surprise exclusion as Paul Hurst look for a big response.

The match was an even affair which ended in a 1-1 draw – a result which many Ipswich fans were content with considering their awful form against Norwich over the years.

But the damage to the dressing room was starting to show, and both results and performances gradually declined with Hurst chopping and changing the starting XI seemingly on a weekly basis.

Ipswich skipper Luke Chambers is the only player at Portman Road to start every Championship game for the club this season, with experienced players Freddie Sears and Jordan Spence in and out of the side with seven starts each.

Hurst’s reign at the club following his switch from Shrewsbury Town in the summer didn’t last long as he was ultimately given his marching order following a run of just one win in 15 league games – leaving Ipswich bottom of the table.
