According to a report in the East Anglian Daily Times, Ipswich Town have identified Huddersfield Town’s Collin Quaner as a January transfer target as they look to boost their survival chances.

The report claims Quaner is a player on Paul Lambert’s wish-list, with the Ipswich manager keen to strengthen all areas following his side’s disappointing 1-0 FA Cup defeat to lower league Accrington Stanley.

The Tractor Boys are ten points from safety at the bottom of the Championship table, and their next game is a must-win home encounter against fellow strugglers Rotherham United at Portman Road.

Lambert will be hoping to make one or two additions to his side before the game against the Millers, and Huddersfield’s Quaner could be an astute signing if they manage to pull it off.

The 27-year-old arrived at Huddersfield in January 2017 and played a part in the club’s promotion to the top-flight. He went on to make 26 Premier League appearances last term as the Terriers avoided the drop.

This season, though, Quaner has fallen out of favour and with just two substitute appearances to his name may feel a move away from the Yorkshire club on loan could be in his best interests.

Standing at 6ft 3inch, he would be ideal to play as a target man for Ipswich alongside the smaller Freddie Sears and the duo could provide a platform to give the Suffolk side an outside chance of survival.

Ipswich already have four players on loan following the recent arrivals of Callum Elder and Will Keane, therefore they only have one more space in their match-day squad and must get it right.
