Ipswich Town’s Jack Lankester has signed a new long-term contract.

Ipswich Town have confirmed via their official website that attacking youngster Jack Lankester has signed a new contract with the Suffolk club until the summer of 2020.
The academy graduate turns 19 later this month and has been identified as a potential star in the future, with manager Paul Lambert predicting to reporters that he will reach the very top.
“He is going to be a top, top player without a shadow of a doubt. He’s one of the best young ones I’ve seen in a long while. He’s going to be a really good one,” Lambert told East Anglian Daily Times last month.
Lankester has broken into the Ipswich starting eleven under Lambert, making four Championship starts and scoring his first career goal in the recent 3-2 defeat at home to Millwall.
The talented youngster has predominantly featured as a wide forward in his recent outings for Ipswich but he also capable of playing through the middle.
Lankester’s previous contract at Portman Road expired in the summer of 2019, but by signing a new deal he has pledged his future to the club and put them in a potentially strong future negotiating position.

With Ipswich now likely to suffer relegation to League One as they sit ten points adrift of safety at the bottom of the Championship, Lankester could have been an ideal target for Ipswich’s league rivals.
The youngster could have walked away for free in the summer or signed a pre-contract with another club this month, but now the Tractor Boys will be able to fend off teams looking to strike a potential bargain.
Lankester has plenty of potential and if Paul Lambert’s predictions turn out to be true, then his new deal could help Ipswich pocket a hefty selling fee further down the line.
