Ipswich Town’s Jonas Knudsen could leave the club in the near future.
Ipswich Town manager Paul Lambert says he hasn’t received any offers for left-back Jonas Knudsen despite the player previously attracted heavy interest from Championship rivals, the East Anglian Daily Times report.
“Someone has to come in for you and I’ve not heard anything at all,” Lambert responded when asked by reporters for the East Anglian DailyTimes whether Jonas Knudsen will leave this month.
“I have good dialogue with Jonas – that’s no problem at all. He has said he wants to keep a good eye on something which I can’t stop because it (the contract situation) was before my time.”
The same East Anglian Daily Times report claims fellow Championship clubs Middlesbrough, Stoke City and Bristol City were all keen on the left-back last summer following his decent displays for Denmark at the World Cup.
But Knudsen has struggled in an Ipswich shirt this season, being a part of a defence which has conceded more league goals, 46 in 27 games, than any other club in the Championship.
Knudsen, moreover, has recently lost his place in the starting line-up with Paul Lambert bringing in Callum Elder on loan from Leicester City.
The 26-year-old is out of contract in the summer and seemingly keeping his options open. Clubs can either sign him on a pre-contract agreement now or try to bring him in this month on the cheap.
But according to Lambert, Ipswich haven’t received any offers for him and perhaps his struggles this season have put other Championship clubs off from making a move.
