Ipswich Town’s Grant Ward is out of contract next summer.

Ipswich Town’s Grant Ward has suffered a season-ending knee ligament injury with the club’s official website confirming the player will miss nine months of action and is set to see a specialist in the coming days.
“Grant will see a specialist tomorrow and we will guided from there. It’s a complete rupture of the cruciate in his left knee [ACL]. We now know that and with that type of injury you are looking around a nine month recovery period,” Ipswich physio Matt Byard explained to itfc.co.uk.
Ward joined the club two years ago from Tottenham Hotspur on a three-year deal, therefore his contract at Portman Road will have expired with the player likely to still be out of action.

The 24-year-old has made 11 Championship starts this season, but the bulk of those were under former manager Paul Hurst who lost his job following a run of just one win in 15 league games.
His successor Paul Lambert, on the other hand, has given Ward just two starts and in both games – the defeats at Nottingham Forest and most recently at Queens Park Rangers – he offered very little.
It seems clear Ward hasn’t made much of an impression on Lambert, and by the time his contract expires next summer the former Norwich City boss could have made several changes improvements to the Ipswich squad.

Capable of playing in several midfield positions including both wings, Lambert has preferred the likes of Gwion Edwards and youngster Jack Lankester who seems to have tied down a regular first-team spot.
Taking to the news on Twitter, several Ipswich supporters feel for Ward but suggest he won’t really be missed and highlighted how it could be the last time they have seen him in an Ipswich shirt.
