Hull City tried to sign Arsenal’s Isaac Hayden on a permanent deal in January.
Hull City boss Steve Bruce says his side were knocked back in their approach to sign on loan Arsenal midfielder Isaac Hayden during the January transfer window, the Mirror report.
The talented midfielder joined the Tigers on a season-long loan deal last season and has impressed at the KC Stadium, prompting the club to look at making his move permanently.
Speaking to reporters on the matter, Bruce admits the Gunners weren’t interested in a deal during January though he holds fresh hopes that they may change their mind come the summer.
“They weren’t interested in January but it is something that we will prolong and see what happens in the summer,” Bruce said when quizzed on a potential permanent deal for Hayden.
The 20-year-old has been in and out of Hull’s first-team this season, making a total of 14 Championship appearances with his last start coming in the 1-0 defeat at promotion rivals Burnley.
The Tigers boast one of the biggest squads in the Championship, yet Bruce has felt the need to freshen his side up with loan players from the Premier League with Chuba Akpom also on loan from Arsenal.
Hayden has a bright future, though it remains to be seen whether that will be at the Emirates Stadium.
Hull are on course for automatic promotion to the Premier League this season, with their latest 0-0 draw at home to Sheffield Wednesday momentarily extending their lead at the top of the Championship table.
