Huddersfield’s potential blockbuster Adama Traore deal could provide Forest with ideal opportunity

Huddersfield Town have been linked with Middlesbrough’s Adama Traore.

According to a recent report by The Sun, Huddersfield are leading the chase to sign Middlesbrough winger Adama Traore with a fee of £18 million being mentioned.

The Terriers are keen to strengthen their squad after preserving their Premier League status, and a move for Boro’s talented winger could provide Nottingham Forest with an opportunity to boost their own top-flight ambitions.

Huddersfield are joint-favourites to sign Traore according to the bookies Bet Victor, and in doing so they could make fellow winger Tom Ince surplus to requirements following his struggling top-flight campaign.

Ince enjoyed huge success at Derby County prior to his move to Huddersfield, scoring an amazing 37 goals in 105 league games, but he found it much tougher in the top-flight with just two strikes.

The 26-year-old gradually fell out favour towards the end of the season, and Traore would arguably represent an improvement from Huddersfield’s point of view as they look to establish themselves in the top-flight.

Signing the speedy winger would push Ince down the pecking order, and with two years left on his deal, perhaps the Yorkshire club would be open to him leaving – a situation Forest should look as a big opportunity.

The Reds have their own ambitions of reaching the Premier League, and their spending this summer on players such as Joao Carvalho and Lewis Grabban suggests they are going all out for promotion.

Ince is a fantastic player at Championship level and his goal-scoring exploits for a winger in the second tier is so impressive. With Forest seeking a new winger, he could be a potentially astute option.

Aitor Karanka is said to still be keen on bringing back Lee Tomlin following his successful loan spell (Bristol Post), but with Cardiff winning promotion he is said to fancy a crack at the Premier League.

Ince would not only be a better alternative, but in the long run he could be a more profitable option which is equally important for Forest as they should look to minimalize the risk of spending big in their bid for promotion.
