Watford’s Will Hughes was overlooked again for the England squad.

Some Derby County supporters have taken to Twitter to share their bemusement at on-loan midfielder Mason Mount being called up to the England squad ahead of Watford’s Will Hughes.
England manager Gareth Southgate named his squad for the upcoming international break and included three surprise names among them – Jadon Sancho, James Maddison and Chelsea’s Mason Mount.
Mount joined the Rams on a season-long loan from the Blues, linking up with former Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard who is now embarking on his first managerial job in charge of the Pride Park club.
While Mount has made a decent enough start to the season, his inclusion in the side is baffling for Rams fans while former Derby academy product Hughes shines in a Watford side sitting in the Premier League’s top six.
Mount, 19, has started all 11 Championship games for Derby this season, scoring three league goals with his last coming via superb free-kick in the 3-1 win over fellow playoff challengers Brentford.
But Hughes, on the other hand, is doing at a much higher level for the Hornets with the 23-year-old starting seven Premier League games for Watford, averaging a league-high four tackles per game.

The former Pride Park favourite is equally adept on the ball and has only been part of a losing Watford side twice this season – a 2-0 defeat at Arsenal and a 2-1 home defeat to Manchester United.
Southgate may have his reasons for overlooking Hughes considering the pool of talent to choose from, but choosing Mount and particularly Nathaniel Chalobah who has yet to start for Watford instead seems bizarre.
