Southampton’s Harrison Reed is enjoying his time at Blackburn Rovers.
Southampton loan star Harrison Reed has told reporters how he is loving his time at Blackburn Rovers and suggests manager Tony Mowbray is getting the best out of him, rovers.co.uk reports.
“I love it here with the lads and we’re unlucky to be five points off the play-offs. The manager has been exceptional. I’ve really taken to him and I understand he’s a really caring guy. He gives me the freedom, and that is what every player needs. I play with confidence under him,” Harrison explained.
The 23-year-old midfielder came through the Southampton youth academy and went on to make his debut for the club aged 18 in a 5-1 League Cup victory over Barnsley.
Since making his debut for the club, however, he has only gone on to feature 17 times in the Premier League with the majority of those appearances coming off the bench late in games.
Breaking through to the first-team squad with the Saints has been a challenge for Reed, and over the past 18 months he has decided to go out on loan first at Norwich City and now with Blackburn.
Reed enjoyed regular first-team football at Carrow Road last term, but it is this season at Rovers where is really starting to find his feet, with manager Tony Mowbray giving him more licence to get forward.
Predominantly being a central midfielder, Reed has played ten games as a wide right midfielder, according to Whoscored, and in his last outing he grabbed an assist in the 2-2 draw with Birmingham City.
Despite having a contract at Saints until 2021, new manager Ralph Hasenhuttl could have different ideas for the player, and Reed’s latest comments suggest he may be open to staying longer at Ewood Park.
