Real Madrid’s Isco has spoken of his unhappiness at the La Liga giants.
Tottenham Hotspur may never have a better chance at signing Real Madrid playmaker Isco after the Spain international suggested he was unhappy at the La Liga giants, Marca report.
After scoring a hat-trick for Spain in their 6-1 demolition of Argentina, reporters asked the three-time Champions League winner what the difference is between his mood on the international stage and at club level.
Not shying away from speaking out against his club, Isco openly suggested there is a lack of confidence in him.
“In Madrid I don’t have the confidence a player needs. The matches with the national team give me life, here I have the confidence of the coach,” the Real Madrid man explained to Marca.
“Maybe I’m the problem in Madrid. I don’t know how to win Zidane’s confidence.”
Such comments aren’t likely to go down well at the Santiago Bernabeu and could push him towards a Premier League switch this summer as a number of top clubs would no doubt be interested.
Among those who recognise his outstanding ability is Tottenham, with boss Mauricio Pochettino crowing over his ‘magic’ ability last year ahead of Spurs’ Champions League clash with the La Liga giants.
He told AS: “Every manager wants to sign the very best and he is one of the best players in the world.
“He is one of the best in the world. I have seen him at different clubs and his creativity is simply outside of the norm. He is at the stage now where he is fully matured. His magic is plain to see.”
Tottenham signing Isco following his role in Madrid’s European triumph last season would have been laughed off six months ago, but now the situation has changed and mission impossible could now be conceivable.
Isco isn’t one of Madrid’s highest earners, with AS claiming the player earns six million euros per year (£100,000 per week) following his contract extension last August.
According to Spotrac, Tottenham’s highest earners – Harry Kane and Hugo Lloris – earn a similar figure in North London therefore Isco’s wages shouldn’t be a stumbling block in any potential deal.
With Pochettino’s men in a great position to finish in the top four while setting their sights on an FA Cup victory, the club is now recognised as one of England’s best with so much potential on offer.
Isco would receive huge backing from Pochettino and the supporters at White Hart Lane, and he could have the chance to become one of Spurs’ greatest ever players which could be another tempting incentive.
