Celtic defender Dedryck Boyata scored the winner in his side’s 1-0 win over Hamilton.
Former Celtic duo John Hartson and Chris Sutton have taken to Twitter to comment on defender Dedryck Boyata going from zero to hero as he netted the match-winner on his return to action against Hamilton Sunday.
The Belgium international defender was making his return to action in a Hoops shirt for the first time this season, after plenty of speculation over his future at the club this summer.
It was reported that Fulham had a £9 million bid turned down for him this summer (Daily Mail), while other reports from Fanatik claims Boyata wants to leave Celtic Park. His contract expires in 12 months’ time.
Celtic fans are naturally disappointed by Boyata’s absence in recent weeks, a time that coincided with an early Champions League exit and a defeat to Hearts in the Scottish Premiership.
But on his return to action, the 27-year-old turned the ball in from a corner just past the hour mark to land the Hoops all three points in an otherwise frustrating afternoon for Celtic.

Boyata’s return to Celtic’s starting eleven sends out a message that boss Rodgers is intent on holding onto him this season, despite speculation still surrounding his future at the club.
It shows professionalism to return to the side, but it may take more than a winner against Hamilton to get some of the more sceptical supporters back on side.
With the European window still open until the end of the month, Celtic’s resolve will no doubt be tested again as Boyata clearly remains one of the best defenders in Scotland – and a player capable of playing at the highest level.
