Former Real Madrid star Guti has predicted the club’s starting XI next season, including Manchester United target Arturo Vidal.
Former Real Madrid star Guti was participating on Spain’s famed El Chiringuito TV football show when he was asked to submit his predicted Real Madrid XI for next season.
The Champions League winners have been linked with a host of players this summer, though one area in particular which Guti feels needs improving is in midfield.
With the possible exit of Angel Di Maria and Xabi Alonso’s influence waning, the former attacking midfielder predicted a big change in Ancelotti’s midfield next season and believes the club will acquire the services of €50 million Manchester United target Arturo Vidal.
Here is Guti’s predicted Real Madrid XI next season:
GK – Iker Casillas
The shot-stopper has been linked with a move away from the Spanish capital this summer with Arsenal named as a possible destination.
The Gunners, however, may need to look elsewhere as Iker Casillas seems intent on staying at the club.
RB – Daniel Carvajal
The Spanish right-back is a Madrid product, and his spot at right-back appears his for the foreseeable future.
CB – Sergio Ramos
The 28-year-old was Madrid’s best player towards the end of last season. No change expected.
CB – Raphael Varane
Chelsea boss Mourinho’s plans to sign him this summer were immediately scuppered by Los Blancos. Varane will go on to become the club’s number one centre-back, firstly replacing the ageing Pepe.
LB – Marcelo
One of the toughest spots to predict, Guti has gone for Marcelo over Portuguese international Fabio Coentrao, though the duo will probably share duties next season.
CM – Luka Modric
The Croatian international has grown into one of the most important players for the club. Ancelotti is a big fan, and he will be one of the first names on the team-sheet.
CM – Toni Kroos
Linked with a move to Man United for much of last season, the German international now appears extremely close to joining Real Madrid after failing to sign a new deal at Bayern Munich.
CM – Arturo Vidal
The €50 million-rated Chilean international is wanted by a host of top clubs, including Manchester United and Arsenal. The Premier League duo, however, have a fight on their hands for his signature and a move to Real Madrid isn’t out of the question.
LW – Cristiano Ronaldo
The current Ballon d’Or winner is the superstar of Real Madrid’s Galacticos. He is a guaranteed starter, even when he’s not 100% fit.
ST – Karim Benzema
Linked with Arsenal and Liverpool this summer, Benzema’s future has been questioned but if recent speculation is to be believed, a new deal in the Spanish capital is imminent.
RW – Gareth Bale
His first season in Madrid finished with him netting the winner in both the Copa Del Rey final and the Champions League final. The world is at the Welshman’s feet, and he will only get better and better.
