Southampton’s Harrison Reed has made a big impression on loan at Blackburn Rovers.

Blackburn Rovers supporters have taken to Twitter to call for Southampton loan star Harrison Reed to sign on a permanent deal following his latest performance.

The talented midfielder joined Rovers in the summer on a season-long loan deal, having already spent a season in the Championship on loan at Norwich City last term.

Reed has been instrumental for Blackburn on their return to the second tier following their League One title-winning campaign last season, and on Saturday he put in arguably his best display in Rovers colours.

The 23-year-old netted a wonderful equaliser as Tony Mowbray’s side came from behind to draw 1-1 at West Bromwich Albion, prompting calls from the Blackburn Rovers fans for him sign at Ewood Park permanently:

Reed made his professional debut for Southampton in the League Cup back in 2013, and he has since gone on to feature for the Saints’ first-team another 17 times over a five year period.

It appears, however, that his chances of breaking in at Southampton are slim, and Reed may consider dropping down to the Championship in order to obtain regular first-team football.

Blackburn are progressing well under Tony Mowbray, and their signing of Ben Brereton from Nottingham Forest in the summer for a tidy fee suggests they aren’t back in the second just to make up the numbers. With ambitions of once again becoming an established Premier League side, Blackburn and Reed are a good fit for each other.
