Fulham appear to be still in the market for a new midfielder.

According to a recent report by the Mirror (live transfer blog, August 4th at 14:47), Fulham are looking to sign St Etienne holding midfielder Ole Selnaes on loan, and have made an approach for the player.
The Norway international would be a solid signing for the Cottagers, and would provide decent competition to Kevin McDonald for that holding midfielder spot.
But instead of opting for Selnaes, Fulham boss Slavisa Jokanovic should instead target a move for Red Bull Salzburg ace Diade Samassekou after it emerged the player could be sold this summer.
A fresh report by Gianluca di Marzio claims Roma have been offered a chance to sign the player, while fellow Serie A giants AC Milan are also said to have an interest in him.
The Mali international was a standout for Salzburg last term, as the Austrian side managed to reach the semi-finals of the Europa League, dumping out Borussia Dortmund on the way.
Samassekou was in outstanding form, prompting reported interest from Tottenham Hotspur (Spain’s Estadio Deportivo reported that Spurs sent scouts to watch him face Dortmund last term), regarding him as a potential long-term replacement for Moussa Dembele.
The 22-year-old averaged 4.1 tackles, 2.4 interceptions and an 82.4% pass completion rate during last season’s Europa League campaign (whoscored).

Fulham have been busy in the transfer market, having already signed Jean Seri, Aleksandar Mitrovic and Alfie Mawson – but adding a more energetic holding midfielder could complete their side.
Samassekou has all the ingredients to be a huge success in the Premier League. With Premier League survival the main aim this term, Fulham should move for the player – and with Salzburg’s history of selling their better players, he may not be too difficult to prize away from the Austrian club.
