Slavisa Jokanovic, Head Coach of Fulham looks on prior to the Sky Bet Championship match between Brentford and Fulham at Griffin Park on December 2, 2017 in Brentford, England.

Fulham boss Slavisa Jokanovic has singled out Derby County’s Matej Vydra for praise as the two sides gear up to meet at Pride Park in a key clash in the race for promotion, Fulhamfc.com report.

The Rams are currently one point ahead of Fulham as they sit fourth in the Championship, and their success so far this season has largely been down to some excellent defending and the clinical Vydra.

The former Watford man is the leading scorer in the Championship this season, netting 17 goals including the equaliser when these two promotion hopefuls met in a 1-1 draw at Craven Cottage earlier in the campaign.

Speaking to the club’s official website, Jokanovic sees the Derby forward as the danger-man for the Rams and highlights how his side have a plan to stop him from succeeding this weekend.

“Matej Vydra is top scorer [in the Championship], a very good player, I am aware of his quality,” Jokanovic said.

“We have a special plan for that, he is part of this team and can be very dangerous for us and we must be careful.”

Fulham head into the fixture having won seven of their last nine league fixtures, a run which has seen them consolidate a place in the top six and join the race for automatic promotion.

Derby, on the other hand, are winless in four and as a result they have slipped seven points behind Cardiff City as the Bluebirds now look a good bet for second place behind runaway leaders Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Vydra missed Derby’s recent 3-3 draw at Reading, and the Czech international will be hopeful he is 100% fit for the visit of Fulham as the East Midlands side look to revive their automatic promotion bid.
