French report names five PSG players who want Pochettino as next manager

Tottenham Hotspur’s Mauricio Pochettino has been linked with the Paris Saint-Germain job.

According to French publication Le10sport, as many as five Paris Saint-Germain players are said to have a clear preference for Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino becoming their new manager.

Current PSG boss Unai Emery has come under fire following the club’s Champions League exit at the hands of Real Madrid, and even a French domestic treble may not be enough to save his job this summer.

Pochettino, a former PSG player, has admitted that he has a desire to manage the French giants as he told radio station RMC last season how a switch to Paris would be very pleasing, reported by Sky Sports.

While on that occasion his comments may have been taken out of context, there is no doubt the Argentine holds the club close to his heart and their current financial power must be difficult to turn away.

Pochettino’s excellent work at Tottenham has seen him become recognised as one of Europe’s top coaches, and on a relatively tight budget in comparison, Spurs’ exciting playing style is testament to his ability.

His progress in North London certainly hasn’t gone unnoticed abroad, and latest reports in France have named as many as five current PSG players who have a clear preference to play under his guidance.

Le10sport name Julian Draxler, Adrien Rabiot, Presnel Kimpembe, Javier Pastore and Angel di Maria as the five in question – the latter two being Pochettino’s fellow Argentine compatriots while Rabiot has previously been linked with a switch to Spurs, as reported by Mundo Deportivo last year.

PSG are head and shoulders above the rest in what is an uncompetitive league, but their European aspirations and financial power make them a desirable option and Spurs owner Daniel Levy will be aware of this.

Chelsea’s Antonio Conte, Manchester United’s Jose Mourinho and ex-Barcelona boss Luis Enrique are also names which have been linked with the PSG role, but it may be Pochettino who ultimately tops their wish-list.
