Sunderland have been linked with Nottingham Forest’s Jason Cummings.

According to a report in the Northern Echo, Sunderland are interested in signing Nottingham Forest’s out of favour forward Jason Cummings ahead of their League One campaign.
A fellow report in the Mirror (live transfer thread, July 6th at 15:14) claims the Reds are looking at selling the striker as they view him surplus to requirements.
But at 22 years of age, the former Hibernian forward still boasts plenty of potential and from a financial point of view Nottingham Forest would be better off seeking a loan deal rather than selling him outright.
Cummings has plenty of ability and, during his former spell at Hibernian, he was one of the most talented young players north of the border.

Cummings deservedly earned his move to the City Ground, scoring 55 goals in 98 Scottish Championship games for Hibs and being nominated for the PFA Scotland Young Player of the Year award, though he barely had a chance to impress before Nottingham Forest changed manager.
With the club going through a major summer rebuild with several exciting new signings joining such as Lewis Grabban, Joao Carvalho and loan duo Diogo Goncalves and Gil Dias, Cummings would find himself further down the pecking order, but that isn’t a reason to get shot of him via a permanent deal.
Allowing him to leave on loan instead could see the Reds able to sell him for far more in 12 months’ time, or the player could return to the City Ground a better player following regular action and potentially ready for a first-team spot.
