Bolton Wanderers signed Jack Hobbs after his release from Nottingham Forest.
Bolton Wanderers manager Phil Parkinson has lavished praise on Jack Hobbs, who joined the club in the summer following his release from Nottingham Forest, the Bolton News report.
“There’s always that calculated risk when you sign any player but when you add Jack’s ability to his character, he has been a good addition to us so far,” Parkinson explained.
Hobbs spent six seasons at Nottingham Forest, but in his final two years at the City Ground he made a total of just ten Championship appearances, after struggling with several niggling injuries.
The arrival of Aitor Karanka ultimately sealed his fate at Forest, with the Spaniard opting to move Daniel Fox into a central defensive role, before bringing back Michael Dawson for extra cover in the summer.
Hobbs was released from his Nottingham Forest contract in the summer, but he is showing the Reds what they are missing out on as his Bolton performances to date have been of a high calibre.
The 30-year-old has struck up a decent partnership alongside Bolton’s David Wheater over the past month, helping the Trotters keep clean sheets over Ipswich Town and Frank Lampard’s Derby County.
Hobbs is likely to keep his place for the upcoming Lancashire derby with Blackburn Rovers, while Forest boss Karanka may regret not giving Hobbs more of an opportunity, especially as the Reds have conceded six goals in their last three games.
