Birmingham City’s Isaac Vassell has been linked with Middlesbrough in recent weeks.

Former Birmingham City manager Harry Redknapp believes youngster Isaac Vassell will be worth a huge fee in the future, although he admits he cannot take any credit for the signing, the Telegraph reports.
“We bought in Isaac Vassell for £1m [from Luton Town], and he will be worth massive money in my opinion. He was an absolute bargain, but I can’t even take credit for that because he was nothing to do with me, to be truthful,” Redknapp explained.
Redknapp took charge of Birmingham during the 2016/17 campaign, keeping them up on the final day of the season. He then witnessed a summer overhaul with 14 new arrivals at St. Andrew’s, including Vassell.
The 25-year-old joined in a reported £1 million deal from Luton Town, although the forward has struggled to feature under new manager Garry Monk, making just one league start this term.
Redknapp, however, feels the player has a big future ahead of him and he seemingly is not the only one to rate him highly with Middlesbrough manager Tony Pulis reportedly keen on adding him to Boro’s ranks.

In a recent report in the Sun (10 March, page 61), Boro are said to be planning to renew their interest in him this summer after becoming a key target during the January transfer window. The Teesside club are reportedly willing to pay £2 million to tempt the Blues into a sale.
Birmingham’s financial situation sees them facing a potential 12-point deduction, and Boro may see their struggles as an invitation to grab Vassell on the cheap this coming summer.
The speedy forward may not be having the best of times right now, but he has the potential to improve and with a contract until 2021, Birmingham may still get to see him take the Championship by storm.
