Cardiff City drew 0-0 with Newcastle United in the early Saturday game in Wales.

Fans of rival clubs have taken to Twitter to lament the lack of quality on show as Cardiff City and Newcastle United played out a dull 0-0 draw in the Premier League’s early kick off Saturday.
The game was selected for broadcasters as Cardiff played their first Premier League match in the Welsh capital since their relegation in the 2013/14 campaign.
Many felt it would be an encounter between two teams destined to fight it out near the bottom of the table this season, and the lack of quality on show would suggest that may well be the case come next May.
Taking to Twitter during the encounter, several rival supporters labelled the encounter one of the worst they have ever seen as Cardiff and Newcastle struggled to open up the game.
Newcastle did have the chance to win the game as they were awarded a rather soft penalty for handball in the final minute of time added on, but the wasteful Kenedy saw his spot-kick saved.
A defeat would have been demoralising for Cardiff, who for the second game running failed to test the opposition goalkeeper – despite playing the last 25 minutes with a man advantage due to Isaac Hayden’s red card.

The Bluebirds couldn’t take advantage, as they failed to break down the 10 men of Newcastle who for the last 20 minutes opted to sit in and look to counter whenever possible.
The Magpies were hopeful of building on last season’s tenth-placed finish, but a lack of serious investment in the squad in the summer backed up by their poor display in Wales suggests they could find themselves falling further behind several of their Premier League rivals.
