Darren Moore has been appointed as West Bromwich Albion’s new manager.
Derby County skipper Curtis Davies says former teammate Darren Moore fully deserved to be named West Bromwich Albion’s new manager following his impressive stint as caretaker boss.
Moore took over from the sacked Alan Pardew towards the end of the campaign and largely embarrassed his predecessor by claiming more victories and points on the board in several games less.
West Brom, given more time, may have pulled off the impossible and survived under Moore as victories over Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur illustrated a clear change in fortunes.
Moore racked up 11 points from his six games in charge – the sort of form that would have had the Baggies challenging for a top four spot when spanning out over a 38-game campaign.
Reacting on social networking site Twitter, former West Brom ace and current Derby skipper Curtis Davies said he was buzzing for Moore as he fully deserves a chance of guiding the Baggies to an immediate promotion.
The 44-year-old has two promotions with West Brom on his CV as a player, and his experience at Championship level could have played a big part in the West Midlands club appointing him on a permanent basis.
Davies had a spell at the Hawthorns between 2005 and 2008, earning promotion alongside Moore in the heart of West Brom’s defence therefore he knows all about the capabilities of his former teammate.
Derby will see West Brom as one of their main challengers for promotion to the Premier League next season, and the two clubs have an interesting history as they met in the 2007 playoff final at Wembley with the Rams, led by Moore at the back, winning on that occasion 1-0.
