Barnsley’s Adam Davies has been linked with Stoke City, Birmingham City and Hull City.

According to a report by the Stoke Sentinel, Stoke City lead the chase for Barnsley goalkeeper Adam Davies while fellow Championship clubs Birmingham City, Hull City and Bristol City are also said to be keen.
But one club that should be targeting the 26-year-old number one is promotion-chasing Derby County as they could end up in a pickle this summer regarding their goalkeeping situation.
Current number one Kelle Roos is out of contract in the summer. The 26-year-old originally joined Derby as an understudy, but injuries to Scott Carson has prompted the Dutchman to step in.
Roos’s excellent performances at Pride Park have seen him retain the number one spot. However, he hasn’t gone unnoticed and Sky Sports claims that fellow Championship clubs such as Stoke are monitoring his situation.
Derby are said to be in contract talks with Roos, but that has dated back to last February without a conclusion. Frank Lampard’s side are in danger of losing him on a free.
Carson turns 34 in September and isn’t as influential as before. With his contract set to expire in 2020, next season is likely to be his last at Pride Park although the club could even try to sell him before then.

Regardless, Derby may need to look at a long-term solution and Barnsley ace Adam Davies makes plenty of sense following his own contract situation as his deal at Oakwell expires this summer.
The former Everton youngster has kept a club-record 21 clean sheets this season, helping the Tykes to promotion back to the Championship and claiming the club’s Player of the Year award.
Davies has the best part of his career ahead of him. It is no surprise to see the likes of Stoke watching on, although somewhat baffling that, as of yet, Derby haven’t been included as a potential suitor.
