Liverpool are currently second in the Premier League table.

Former player Dean Saunders believes Liverpool’s vulnerable defence will cost them the chance of winning the Premier League title this season, the BBC reports.
The Reds have made a superb start to the Premier League campaign, winning six of their nine matches so far to join Arsenal at the top of the table on 19 points.
Considering Liverpool have already played Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur away from home plus rivals Manchester Unnited at Anfield, there is real cause for optimism on Merseyside.

Having said that, though, Jurgen Klopp’s men have found clean sheets hard to come by this season and former Liverpool player Saunders suggests the defence will ultimately cost them the title.
“I don’t think Liverpool’s defenders are top class. To win the Premier League you have to have top defenders as well as attackers,” the Welshman told the BBC ahead of Liverpool’s win over West Bromwich Albion.

The Merseyside club have conceded 11 goals in their nine league matches so far, keeping just one clean sheet in the 0-0 draw at home to Manchester United.
Klopp strengthened his side’s defence with the additions of Joel Matip and Ragnar Klavan in the summer, yet the duo lack Premier League experience and have shown vulnerability already this season.
Liverpool’s 2-1 win over West Brom represents further progress made by Klopp’s men, although there is still a long way to go and many more challenges lie ahead as they look to fight for the title.
