Norwich City manager Daniel Farke has told reporters that Emiliano Buendia and Moritz Leitner are doubts for their clash against Nottingham Forest after picking up injuries at Blackburn Rovers, Eastern Daily Press report.

“To be honest I’m a bit more concerned about who is available for the next games, as today we also had to do without Timm Klose, Grant Hanley is just coming back after a long injury, two key players in Moritz Leitner and Emi Buendia probably injured for the next game,” Farke explained.

Norwich cemented their place in the Championship’s top two with a 1-0 victory at Blackburn, with striker Teemu Pukki scoring late on to a settle what was an even contest.

The Canaries are in excellent form and host fellow promotion rivals Forest at Carrow Road on Boxing Day, but they may have to do so with a somewhat depleted squad.

Experienced defender Timm Klose remains a doubt after a missing the trip to Rovers, and now Buendia and Leitner could miss out with both players failing to complete the 90 minutes at Ewood Park.

Buendia has been a mainstay in the side following his summer switch to Norwich. The Argentine has made 17 league starts and contributed with three goals and three assists.

Leitner has made 18 league starts and boasts an average 85.1% pass-accuracy rate and 1.9 key passes per game (Whoscored). Linking the play from back to front, he is arguably the Canaries’ most important player.

Forest have a decent record on the road to fellow promotion rivals and Norwich’s injury troubles will give them extra belief they can go to Norfolk and pick up a positive result.
