Norwich City’s Kenny McLean has been injured for most of the season.
Norwich City manager Daniel Farke says midfielder Kenny McLean is set to return to training this weekend and could be involved in next week’s U23 encounter with Wolfsburg, Eastern Daily Press report.
“Kenny should come back into team training from Saturday. He will train with the Under-23s and if everything works then perhaps he can be involved in the Wolfsburg game next week. We are looking forward to having him back. He is pretty close,” Farke explained.
McLean joined Norwich from Aberdeen last January on a three-and-a-half-year deal but was immediately loaned back to the Scottish Premiership side for the remainder of last season.
The talented midfielder finally joined up with his Canaries teammates in the summer, but the 26-year-old made just one Championship start before having to undergo surgery following ankle ligament damage.
Norwich supporters have barely seen McLean in action despite signing for the club nearly a year ago, but that could soon change with the player looking to return in time for the busy festive period.
The Canaries haven’t really missed the player all too much what with Moritz Leitner, Alexander Tettey and Tom Trybull providing the options in midfield, while Daniel Farke’s side lead the league table.
But McLean can provide more competition for places and the Scot’s energy and willingness to get around the pitch makes him an ideal player for this Norwich side who are among the fittest in the Championship.
