Norwich City manager Daniel Farke claims Tom Trybull is one of the best holding midfielders in the Championship despite regularly finding himself out of the starting lineup.

“For me Tom Trybull is one of the best holding midfielders in this league,” Farke told the Eastern Daily Press.

“In the deep six role he is so good. It was a top class performance at Bournemouth but it is more like the first thought you have now is who is in the starting line up?”

Trybull has rarely featured for Norwich this season, making just four Championship starts as Farke opts for fellow duo Alex Tettey and Marco Stiepermann as his regular two in midfield.

The Canaries, despite a poor start, are currently top the Championship table after recording an impressive nine wins in 11 games – with incredibly eight of those victories coming by just the odd goal.

Norwich’s success has largely come from maintaining a stable first-team XI, but in doing so Farke suggests he is finding it difficult to regularly leave players out despite his side’s consistent form.

Trybull has been one of those to suffer as a result, with the German midfielder featuring in just 117 minutes of league action since August and starting only one game – the 2-1 win home win over Aston Villa.

It seems only an injury or suspension will see the 25-year-old break in, but even so Trybull could be back on the bench again soon after, shown by the fact Farke dropped him immediately after his impressive performance in the cup defeat at Bournemouth.
