As shown by the table provided by Opta, both players perform exceedingly well over a number of key categories yet it is Liverpool’s Coutinho who ultimately comes out on top at this stage.

Sanchez has netted more goals for Arsenal and also averages more chances created via key pass per league match while also matching Coutinho in terms of assists and successful take-ons.

However, Liverpool’s Brazilian playmaker comes out on top in shots on goal, touches and ball recoveries – the latter a key aspect of Jurgen Klopp’s side’s high-pressing style of play.

The two sides have already met this season, and on that occasion it was Coutinho who also came out on top as he netted two superb goals in an entertaining 4-3 victory over the Gunners at the Emirates Stadium.

It is expected the South American duo will be among the contenders for the Player of the Year gong come May, and right now there are not many attacking players in England showing such devastating form.
