Tottenham Hotspur need to strengthen this summer.

Tottenham Hotspur will end the season trophy-less for the tenth consecutive season, following their disappointing 2-1 defeat to Manchester United in the FA Cup semi-final on Saturday.
Tottenham haven’t managed to bag any sort of silverware since their League Cup success in the 2007-08 campaign, despite the fact they have managed to considerably close the gap on the so-called big clubs.
Mauricio Pochettino’s team made a great start to their FA Cup semi-final as Dele Alli gave them a deserved lead, but goals from Alexis Sanchez and Ander Herrera turned the tie on its head as Manchester United came back to win.
It was a disappointing day for Tottenham, and their lack of strength beyond the first-team was evident as both Lucas Moura and Erik Lamela came on and produced very little the a bid to find an equaliser.
In order for Tottenham to really compete for the biggest trophies on all fronts, the club clearly needs a bigger squad with more quality in depth. Pochettino may also have to look at replacing a few current first-teamers.

Ben Davies
Left-back has got to be a priority for Tottenham this summer, as Danny Rose is out of favour while Davies – for all his efforts – doesn’t posses the quality needed in a position which requires an ability to attack.
The Welsh fullback struggled badly against Manchester United, and in truth he was lucky to remain on the pitch.
Davies, 24, is still young so would make a great back-up for Spurs, but in order to push on to the next level, the club should seek an improvement with Manchester United’s Luke Shaw a very viable option.

Eric Dier
Eric Dier didn’t have a particularly bad game against the Red Devils, but he offers very little on the ball and forces Christian Eriksen to drop far too deep in order to provide that creativity.
In Mousa Dembele and Dier, there is a decent mix of strength, mobility and stability, but the lack of ingenuity and creativity is an obvious issue and Pochettino needs to make a big signing here.
Napoli’s Jorginho would be the type of player needed, but Tottenham may struggle to attract such a big name without the willingness to break their current wage structure.

Heung-Min Son
Heung-Min Son had a poor game against Manchester United where nothing came off for him, and unfortunately for Spurs, his potential replacements Erik Lamela and Lucas Moura also didn’t provide the spark needed.
Manchester United had the likes of Juan Mata, Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial on the bench. The depth and quality in reserve for Jose Mourinho’s side is what Tottenham ultimately need to replicate.
Son has had a decent season, but for Tottenham to reach the next level, they need to have his sort of quality on the bench or at the very least a top player jostling the South Korean for a regular first-team spot.
Martial would be a fine option to provide competetion with Harry Kane or Son in an attacking wide left position, while Fulham’s Ryan Sessegnon is another – although he is more of a player for the future.
