Derby County are said to be in advanced talks with Frank Lampard over the vacant managerial position.

According to a report in Sky Sports, Frank Lampard is said to be on the verge of becoming Derby County’s new manager as the two parties are at an advanced stage in negotiation talks.
Lampard joining Derby would be a risk on both sides as the Rams are a big Championship club with promotion aspirations while the former Chelsea midfielder is about to embark on his first managerial job.
Should Lampard join Derby, it’s expected he would be joined by Chelsea U18 coach and close friend Jody Morris.
Morris, however, may not be the only former teammate of Lampard to move to Pride Park as current Aston Villa centre-back John Terry is another potential option.

Villa’s failure to secure promotion back to the Premier League following their playoff final defeat has raised huge question marks over Terry’s future at the club with his wages an evident problem.
The Villans were hopeful of a return to the top-flight but falling short for the second season in succession means their parachute payments have decreased and they need to comply with Financial Fair Play rules.
Slashing their massive wage bill is the first step, and in doing so players such as Terry who is reportedly earning £60,000 per week (The Sun) would be an obvious candidate to move on.

The 37-year-old’s contract is up in the summer anyway, and it’s unlikely anybody else could afford his wages though Derby with Lampard at the helm could offer him a unique position he won’t find anywhere else.
It is well documented that Terry is keen to move into management, as reported by the Daily Mail, and if he still feels he has one more promotion charge in him then a player-coach role at Derby makes perfect sense.
It would be a win-win situation for both parties, while Derby could be on the lookout for a new experienced centre-back as Curtis Davies has been strongly linked with following former boss Gary Rowett to Stoke City (the Mirror).
