Celtic and Rangers will be gunning for the title next season.
Celtic skipper Scott Brown has warned Old Firm rivals Rangers that his side have the quality in their ranks to win a sixth and seventh successive Premiership title, the Daily Record report.
Rangers will make their return to the top-flight next season following promotion from the Championship.
Some have already suggested that the Ibrox side will immediately challenge Celtic for the title, and the Gers’ recent Scottish Cup semi-final success over Celtic has only enhanced those thoughts.
Brown says he expects Mark Warburton’s side to challenge straight away, yet he warns Rangers that the Hoops have a quality squad at their disposal and will be determined to stay as Scotland’s number one club.
“Of course, Rangers will be competitive straight away but we are not giving up our league titles,” Brown told the Daily Record.
“We are going for five in a row now and we want to get six and seven. We believe we have the players in that dressing room who can do it and we just have to have faith in ourselves and express ourselves a lot more than we have been doing in recent weeks.”
Celtic look all-but set to win their fifth successive Scottish Premiership title, yet many have become somewhat disillusioned with the club’s progress under Ronny Deila especially in Europe.
With Deila set to leave the club at the end of the season, the Celtic Park club have a big decision to make and appointing the right manager this summer could define the next few years.
Rangers may not have the squad yet to really challenge Celtic, yet a Scottish Cup win would see them enter the Europa League which would undoubtedly help their appeal when buying new players this summer.
