Burton Albion host Nottingham Forest this weekend.
Burton Albion’s on-loan midfielder Martin Samuelsen believes Nottingham Forest are feeling the fear of relegation and that can help his side in this weekend’s key clash, the club’s official website reports.
For the opening few months of the season Forest, despite their inconsistency, threatened to challenge for a top-six place following some decent home victories over the likes of QPR, Sheffield United and Norwich.
Since December, however, the Reds have struggled for form, winning just two of their last 13 league matches, and the arrival of new boss Aitor Karanka has done little to stem the decline.
Forest head into their clash with Burton having failed to score in seven of their last eight league games, and defeat to Burton would see them edge even closer to the bottom three.
Speaking to Burton’s official website, Samuelsen feels the East Midlands side are scared of relegation and believes it could benefit his side in their quest for a much-needed victory.
“I think that Nottingham Forest are starting to feel the fear (of the relegation battle) and it will shake them up a bit. I think that we can get a result against them,” Samuelsen said.
“We are going to go out from the start trying to get a goal and win the game.”
The upcoming clash between the two teams is expected to be a nervy affair as Burton are also in poor form.
The Brewers, under former Forest player and now manager Nigel Clough, have not won at home since beating Fulham 2-1 in September and they currently sit at the bottom of the Championship table.
Forest are currently seven points above the drop zone with 15 games remaining and after Burton they face fellow strugglers Reading (H), QPR (A) and Birmingham City (H) in a key period in the season.
